What does embracing equity mean to you?

To celebrate International Women's Day, we got together with some of our people to discuss what #EmbracingEquity means to them. We opened up the conversation to find out more about what still needs to be done to achieve equity for women, and we're using this insight to learn how we can all embrace equity in our everyday lives – not just in the workplace.

Across the business in all our locations, we are hosting activities throughout the week to celebrate women and ensure we can all be a part of the conversation. To keep the conversation going beyond International Women's Day, our Gender Network have planned, participated in, and hosted various speaker sessions and events that celebrate women's achievements and champion an equitable society. The Gender network has also been a driving force for change in the organisation, by sharing members' experiences of baby loss and helping to shape new policy to support people going through this.

International Women's Day reminds us to celebrate women's achievement, raise awareness about discrimination and take action to drive gender parity. The day has occurred for well over a century, with the first International Women's Day gathering in 1911 being supported by over a million people. This year, the focus on embracing equity aims to shine a light on why equal opportunities aren't enough, and that by embracing equity we can create a truly inclusive world. The official International Women's Day website encourages all of us to take action, no matter our gender or background.
